Google Ads and Keywords for your web business

Google Ads and Keywords for your web business

February 18 - February 23, 2019

When you think about how to promote your business, you must think about Google Ads and how to choose good keywords for your campaign. This week I was learning about what makes a keyword a good one or a bad one and I came to the following conclusions:

A good keyword is

  • One that connects the right customer with the right product. Keywords are you key to point to the right niche and for the customer to find your product.
  • To choose the right keyword you have to think as your customer would. What is your customer going to search when he wants your product? The answer may contain all of your best keywords.
  • Phrases are better as keywords because they point to specific items. Keywords must be not general that they cause the customer to go to another places and not so specific that your customer is not going to find your site. You must think of phrases that describe your products, but not ones that are too technical that the customer is not able to write them, or too specific that the customer is not going to search for them. For example, do not include a specific size or color in your keyword if you are selling t-shirts because your customer only wants to know who is selling t-shirts and once he arrives to the distributor's web site, he will go on a detailing research.
A bad keyword is:
  • One that points to another place.
  • One that is too technical.
  • Only one word that may be used in different industries for a huge bunch of businesses.
  • One that is very specific.
Why is it important to choose the right key words? Because they are the way for the customer to find your web site and finally to impact your KPIs.
